Ingo Günther’s two-part work “Exosphere” und “World Processor – Field of Globes “ is to be found on the Piazza of the Autostadt’s GroupForum - an instant welcome to the visitor before he or she even enters the theme park.

The “Exosphere” – an aluminium grid globe – has a diameter of 12 metres and weighs 4.5 tons. Its scale in relation to earth is 1:1 million and, in accordance with the tilt of our planet’s rotational axis, floats at an angle of 23.45° over the guests’ heads.

Inside the installation two text banners provide information in English and French. On the outside of the globe a blue LED display shows Wolfsburg’s geographical position, the local temperature and its time. “Is Wolfsburg situated in the Southern hemisphere?” you might ask. Have a look at the reflection of the “Exosphere” in the Field of Globes below to find the answer.
