As a Volkswagen Group communications platform, the Autostadt offers an opportunity to experience the company's values along with the many facets of mobility. We welcome you as a guest to our theme park and extracurricular learning centre – one of Germany's most popular tourist destinations. While enjoying your stay at the Autostadt, we kindly ask you to observe our house rules with due consideration to other people and property. Please act responsibly and follow the guidelines of common courtesy. We hope you enjoy an exciting day at the Autostadt!

The following rules apply to the Autostadt grounds and the parking areas.

Please keep in mind that Germany's traffic regulations (StVO) apply to the Autostadt parking areas.

In order to facilitate the flow of traffic, kindly follow the instructions of our staff and park only in designated areas. Please note that reserved parking spaces, e.g., for disabled persons or parents accompanied by children, may only be used by those in possession of the appropriate permits. Illegally parked vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense.

The use of our car parks constitutes a separate user agreement. Car park terms and conditions are posted for your information at the car park entrances and on the ticket machines.

You may only enter the Autostadt through the designated visitor entrances with a valid admission ticket, online ticket or mobile phone ticket (wallet). Please keep the ticket in your possession for the duration of your stay and show it to Autostadt staff on request. The admission ticket is only valid on the day it is activated. Tickets issued for a fixed date are only valid on that day and expire thereafter.

Personalised tickets, e.g., online or mobile phone tickets, are not transferable. When using a personalised ticket to enter the Autostadt, you must show an identification document with photo if requested by Autostadt staff. If the photo ID and the personalised ticket do not match, the Autostadt reserves the right to confiscate your ticket and to exercise its domiciliary rights. As a general rule, the Autostadt does not refund admission fees. If a mobile phone ticket is lost, the Autostadt will only provide the booked service if the identity of the customer can be clearly established and the ticket has not yet been used. There is no legal claim arising from this.

General safety rules

In the interests or your personal safety, we kindly ask you to follow the instructions of our staff.

Please use the designated walkways and dispose of waste only in the collection bins provided. Pets (with the exception of guide dogs) are not allowed on the Autostadt grounds. We kindly ask you not to feed animals in the Autostadt park area. Political rallies or demonstrations are not permitted on the Autostadt premises.

Possession of weapons or pressurized spray cans containing paint or hazardous substances on the Autostadt grounds is forbidden. Fireworks or other incendiary devices are also prohibited.

The consumption of food or beverages brought to the Autostadt is not permitted. This does not apply to baby food or any special foods required for certain illnesses. The consumption of food brought in by participants in educational programmes for schools and day care centres is exempt if the food is consumed at the learning site (and not on the park grounds).

Persons showing clear signs of alcohol or drug consumption may be removed from the premises without compensation.

The use of bicycles, scooters, e-scooters, roller skates or similar is prohibited on the park grounds, the Stadtbrücke (bridge) and the promenade unless it is expressly permitted in individual cases or as described below.

The following regulations apply to guests visiting the Autostadt with micro vehicles or alternative means of transport:

Promenade and Stadtbrücke (bridge)

• Inline skates are permitted for use at walking speed, provided the rules of common courtesy are observed
• E-boards/skateboards must be carried in these areas
• E-scooters/kick scooters must be pushed by hand in these areas
• E-bikes/bicycles must be pushed by hand in these areas

Exception: Young children (2-6 years) who are within immediate calling distance/sight of a guardian and using a child-sized version of the above-listed means of transport on the promenade or Stadtbrücke (bridge) are exempt from this regulation, providing they follow the rules of common courtesy.

Park grounds

The use of the above-listed means of transport is generally prohibited on the park grounds. The lockers and cloakroom located on the lower floor of the Piazza or the bicycle stands can be used to store/park these vehicles.

Exception: Young children (2-6 years) who are within immediate calling distance/sight of a guardian and using a child-sized version of the above-mentioned means of transport on the promenade or Stadtbrücke (bridge) are exempt from this regulation providing they follow the rules of common courtesy.

Special events or situations requiring increased security may result in a restriction of this regulation.

Some areas of the Autostadt are under video surveillance to protect legitimate interests. The video-monitored areas are marked by signs. Please check these signs for information regarding data protection.

Protection of non-smokers in the Autostadt

Legislation regarding the protection of non-smokers in Lower Saxony requires the Autostadt to implement strict measures for the protection of non-smoking guests and employees. In accordance with § 1, paragraphs 9 and 10 of these laws, smoking at the Autostadt in any form, including electronic cigarettes, is only permitted in designated, clearly marked outdoor areas and on the lower level of the Piazza in the GroupForum. Anyone found smoking outside of the designated areas will be directed go an area where smoking is permitted. Violations of the Autostadt smoking rules may result in removal from the premises, without compensation.

Manned or unmanned aircraft (e.g. drones) are not permitted to take off, fly or land anywhere on the Autostadt grounds.

Use of Autostadt attractions

Certain Autostadt attractions may be subject to special usage or safety regulations. Within the framework of these special rules and safety regulations, the Autostadt may deny use by certain individuals or groups.

Where applicable, special rules of use are posted at the respective attractions or reference is made to them during the booking process.

For your own safety, we recommend that you read and observe these rules. Please follow the instructions of our staff. Any violations of these rules may result in expulsion from the attractions, without compensation.

Limitations of liability

1. We shall be liable to you in all cases of contractual and non-contractual liability in the event of intent or gross negligence in accordance with the statutory provisions for damages or reimbursement of futile expenses.

2. In other cases, we shall only be liable – unless otherwise regulated in para. 3 below – in the event of a breach of a contractual obligation, the fulfilment of which is a prerequisite for the proper performance of the contract and on the observance of which you as the customer may regularly rely (cardinal obligation), limited to compensation for foreseeable and typical damages. In all other cases, our liability is excluded subject to the provision in para. 3.

3. Our liability for damages arising from injury to life, limb or health and under the product liability law(s) shall remain unaffected by the above limitations and exclusions of liability. The statutory warranty rights shall apply in the event of defects.

Insofar as the liability of Autostadt GmbH is excluded or limited in accordance with the above paragraphs, this also applies to the liability of our vicarious agents and assistants.

Note on admission restrictions resulting from epidemic situations, in particular the Covid-19 pandemic:

Within the framework of official requirements and the safety/hygiene concept, Autostadt GmbH may have to restrict the maximum number of visitors to the park, restaurants and attractions. Customers who leave the park with a day ticket or other admission ticket that allows repeated entry may be subject to waiting times on re-entry or may not be allowed back into the park if the permitted number of visitors is exceeded. Waiting times may also be necessary for admission to the park, restaurants or attractions.

Upon presentation of a cloakroom token, the items stored will be handed over without checking the entitlement. Without a cloakroom token, items may only be handed over to visitors if they she can credibly prove ownership.

Cloakroom items that have been mixed up, damaged or lost must be reported to the cloakroom staff immediately. This also applies to the loss of a cloakroom token, in which case the visitor is obliged to pay the replacement costs.

We are only liable for loss and material damage to luggage or cloakroom items that have been handed over to Autostadt staff for safekeeping or transport. No other damages are covered. This applies in particular to technical equipment (e.g. photo or video cameras, mobile phones, laptops) as well as jewellery and cash, which are not covered by the safekeeping contract or liability.

We provide lockers on a temporary basis. There use is limited to regular Autostadt opening times. Lockers will be opened by staff after closing time. For safety reasons, the locker contents will be removed and stored by the Autostadt security service. Food may not be stored in lockers; any food items found will be disposed of. The aforementioned limitations of liability apply accordingly.

Sound, photo, film or video recordings are permitted for private use only. Recordings inside closed spaces during presentations, film screenings or events are not permitted. Sound, photo, film or video recordings during an event, including for private use, are prohibited. In the event of a violation, event visitors may be removed from the Autostadt. If sound, photo, film or video recordings are made during a performance by persons authorised to do so, the visitor agrees by purchasing an event ticket that his/her image and/or voice may be recorded and that the recordings may be published and used without any claim to remuneration.

The use of sound, photo, film or video recordings for private purposes extends to a reproduction which may then be shown to those persons who were physically present. In addition, the right of reproduction and the right of public access are permitted for uploading sound, photo, film or video recordings to the visitor's private account on social networks and private blogs.

Any other use requires written consent from the Autostadt GmbH management.

We would like to point out that the duty of supervision for legal guardians and caretakers of children continues without restriction after arrival on the Autostadt grounds. This also applies when underage visitors use Autostadt attractions, e.g. MobiVersum, the parent or guardian remains obliged to supervise.

All Autostadt facilities are carefully maintained and monitored. In the event of damage, please contact our staff. You can report emergencies or damage at any time via the reporting system at our First Aid Station. Please report even if there is reason to believe that damage could develop at a later time. Please be sure to report any damage before leaving the Autostadt.

Any advertising or sales of goods/services on the Autostadt grounds (including the car park) requires prior written consent from the Autostadt management. This also applies to surveys, polls and petitions.

All criminal offences committed in the Autostadt will be reported to the police by our staff/security personnel.

Anyone who causes a nuisance to other guests, does not comply with usage instructions or restrictions, does not follow instructions from the staff, fails to comply with these house rules or other directives, or is otherwise disruptive, may be expelled from the park premises without compensation.

In addition, persons who violate the house or car park rules or who are found on the Autostadt premises without a legitimate admission ticket may be banned from the premises.
