Am I allowed to use rollerblades at the Autostadt?

For safety reasons no rollerblades, bicycles or kickboards may be used. If you are bringing a bicycle it can be left in the bicycle racks next to the ServiceHaus. For the duration of your visit kickboards or rollerblades may be stored at the cloakroom in the GroupForum.

Are there barrier-free toilets at the Autostadt?

Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available in several buildings at the Autostadt including KonzernForum and the Erste Sahne restaurant in the ZeitHaus Museum. The KonzernForum building also has an accessible toilet in the basement under the Piazza. This especially roomy sanitary facility is also equipped with a height-adjustable changing bench and hoist. The accessible toilet can be reached using passenger elevators on the Piazza. 

During my Autostadt visit I lost something. Where, and how long, does the Autostadt keep lost property?

Found articles are kept up to four weeks at the Autostadt's lost property office under the Piazza, before they are handed over to the city of Wolfsburg’s lost property office (Fundbüro).

How much time should I allow for my visit to the Autostadt?

Statistics show us that our guests spend an average of four to six hours visiting the Autostadt, that amount of time will enable you to get a good overview of the pavilions, the ZeitHaus (museum) the CustomerCentre (car distribution), the park and the various offers in the GroupForum. For visitors who would like to explore the Autostadt in more depth we recommend the two-day ticket.

I am reliant on a wheel chair/my children require the use of a baby stroller. Are the Autostadt buildings designed to suit my needs?

The Autostadt buildings are wheelchair-compatible and have ramps and/or lifts. You can borrow a wheelchair or baby stroller free of charge against a deposit.

I have booked the safety training (Fahrsicherheitstraining). Where do I go for this training and what must I bring?

An Autostadt staff member will meet in the pavilion at the all-terrain track. Please be there ten minutes before your booking and bring a valid driver’s license with you. 

I have heard that in addition to the Zeit Museum there is also a Volkswagen Automuseum. Is this at the Autostadt?

The Volkswagen AutoMuseum is situated at 35 Dieselstraße, Wolfsburg, about five to ten minutes drive from the Autostadt. Further information can be obtained at www.volkswagen-automuseum.de.

I would like to visit the Autostadt on several consecutive days. Where do I spend the nights?

Within the Autostadt grounds you will find our on-site hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg. If I am a day visitor can I take part at the factorytour?

The factory tour is possible due to availability. Pre-booking is not possible. Please ask at out WelcomeDesk on the day of your visit.

Times: On production days, Mondays to Fridays. Not on weekends, public holidays and during factory holidays. FactoryTours last approx. 50 minutes.

Is there anywhere we can leave our coats?

Yes, in the GroupForum’s (KonzernForum’s) basement there are lockers and a cloakroom in which you can safely leave your coats.

May I bring my dog to the Autostadt?

Dogs and other pets are not permitted on the Autostadt grounds.

May I buy tickets for the Autostadt online?

May I give my year-ticket to my friends?

Your personal year-ticket has been made out to you and carries your photograph, it is therefore not transferable to a third party.

Non-smoker protection at the Autostadt?

According to § 1 para. 9 and 10 of the Lower Saxony Non-smoker protection Act, smoking is only permitted in designated areas. These are the outside areas and the area underneath the GroupForum’s (KonzernForum) Piazza.

What is the to do at the Autostadt when it rains?

Our 28 hectare park houses seven brand pavilions, the CustomerCentre, the ZeitHaus museum and the GroupForum all of which have exhibitions and interactive offers to entertain and delight. In inclement weather you can borrow an umbrella against a deposit at the cloakroom in the GroupForum.

What must I bring if I have booked to drive on the all-terrain track (Geländeparcours)?

To drive on the All-Terrain Track (GeländeParcours) you will need to bring a valid driver’s license. The All-Terrain Track can be reached via the stairs in the middle of the Stadtbrücke (bridge). Please be at the track ten minutes before your booking.

Where can I park? Is there a parking fee?

There are four different parking places for cars as well as one for busses in close proximity to the Autostadt. The parking lot adjacent to the Autostadt’s ServiceHaus charges according to the length of time spent there. If you have come to collect a new vehicle this may be parked free of charge after hand-over.

About the Autostadt

How big is the park?

The Autostadt’s park and lagoons comprises a total of 25 hectares.

Is the park suitable for children and if yes, what can they experience here?

A visit to the Autostadt is an experience for the whole family – most of our attractions are designed to be enjoyed by both young and old. Exclusively for our younger guests we offer a childrens’ drivers license at the LernPark (April to October) as well as the indoor-DrivingSchool (FahrSchule). In addition there are KidsTours  – specially conducted tours for children.

My partner is not a car enthusiast what is there for her/him to do for at the Autostadt?

The Autostadt reflects the Volkswagen Group’s broad orientation and its corporate responsibility towards humankind, culture and society. For that reason those interested in culture will find as much to inspire them as those whose interests lie in technology and multi-media, homemade food, as well as those who simply come to relax.

Vehicle collection

Can I go back to visit the park after vehicle collection?

On the day of collection you can use your entry ticket to enter and leave the Autostadt grounds as often as you please. If you would like to return to the park once you have collected your new vehicle, an Autostadt host will issue you with a free parking ticket for your new vehicle parking place as you leave the CustomerCentre.

Can I take part at the factorytour if I collect a new car?

If you are coming to the Autostadt to collect a vehicle, you can book a FactoryTour due to availability on the day of collection. Please contact our Customer Care Center in advance via phone: 0800 288 678 238

On which days can I participate in the factory tour? Are there days/times when the factory tour is not on available?

The factory tour takes in several of Volkswagen’s production halls and therefore only takes place on days when these are in operation. This is why we cannot offer the FactoryTour on weekends, public holidays and the days falling between weekends and public holidays or during the factory’s annual summer closure. Please be aware that the factory tour can be cancelled at short notice.

What do I need to bring with me when collecting my new vehicle?

When collecting your new vehicle please have the following documents to hand: your registration document, your identity document as well as driver’s license and the receipt (Abholschein) which has been issued to you by the dealer. In addition you will need license plates for the new vehicle. If these are to be applied onto a special holder please take this to the Customer Check-in (AbholerWelt). If you are collecting a vehicle on behalf of the person whose name is on the registration it is essential that you bring a letter of authorisation authorizing you to collect the car. It is standard that all Volkswagen vehicles are equipped with a warning/breakdown triangle and first aid kit and you therefore do not have to bring these.

What happens if I am late collecting my vehicle?

If you are unable to collect your vehicle on time i.e. you have not checked in by the alotted 90 minutes before your appointment, our customer service staff will find a new hand-over time for you. Please take into account that changes at short-notice can take up to several hours from the original appointment time.

Where can I leave my luggage until I have collected my vehicle?

Your suitcases and bags can be left at out LuggageService (GepäckService). The staff at the LuggageService (GepäckService) will bring your luggage right to your new vehicle in the CustomerCentre (KundenCenter) when it is delivered.

Which vehicle makes are handed over at the Autostadt?

At present vehicles of the Volkswagen, SEAT and CUPRA brands which have been ordered at a dealership in Germany can be collected at the Autostadt.

Why must I report to the customer check-in (Abholerwelt) 90 minutes before collection time?

After arriving at the Customer Check-in (AbholerWelt), handing over your registration plates and receiving the time for your appointment, your new vehicle is then processed. A fully-automated process then takes it from its place in the CarTower (AutoTurm) to the CustomerCentre (KundenCenter) where it receives its finishing touches before hand-over. We need about 90 minutes to ensure that your vehicle has its registration plates fixed in place, that is has been checked and polished to perfection.

Performances/Events

I have reserved tickets for a performance or event. How long do I have to collect my tickets?

Following your reservation we keep your tickets for you at the WelcomeDesk for five days. Tickets not collected within the five days are automatically made available for sale to the public. 

Where can I buy tickets for Autostadt performances and events?

Tickets for Autostadt performances and events can be obtained through the online ticket shop or CustomerCareCentre at +49 – (0)5361 – 400 or tollfree at +49 (0)800 – 288 678 238 or in the Autostadt at the WelcomeDesk. 

Restaurants

Are the restaurants open over and above the times when the park is open?

Some Autostadt restaurants are open after 18h00. Please find all information here: restaurants

Do I need an Autostadt ticket to visit the Autostadt restaurants operated by Mövenpick?

Only to access the restaurants inside the park such as Tachometer and "Erste Sahne" you need a valid day-ticket or annual pass.

How can I reserve a table at one of the Autostadt restaurants operated by Mövenpick?

All reservations for Autostadt restaurants can be made at the booking hotline at +49 (0) 53 61 – 40 61 16 as well as by email at restaurants@autostadt.de.
